Christopher Grano, Sarah Hoskins and Scott Stewart after their LIVE radio performance/interview on KRFC 88.9FM

Zahatar is comprised of Christopher Grano on violin/fiddle, Sarah Hoskins on cello/djembe, and Scott Stewart on viola. The band is currently sponsored by NoCo Artists, a new nonprofit in northern Colorado promoting music and art created by living persons.  The term “Zahatar” refers to a timeless spice blend from the Middle East. The band Zahatar presents its debut performance, bringing modern spice to timeless tunes. Zahatar arranges all of its own music, pulling themes from the Celtic tradition, Chinese and Spanish folk melodies, bluegrass, pop/rock, film soundtracks, ragtime, the Classical era, and more!

Click this link to find out more about NoCO Artists foot stomping May event, Saturday May 24th at 7 pm, featuring Zahatar which has been officially endorsed by Charles de Lint, urban fantasy author of international fame. The theme is a musical recreation of his novel “The Little Country,” for which the author wrote several Celtic melodies that have been transcribed for string trio, percussion, Celtic harp, and pennywhistle by members of Zahatar for this performance. Readings from the author’s book will be interspersed with each song, to create a story-enhanced song cycle. Being in a beautiful historic Carnegie library will create a one of a kind celebration of books and music. We have also joined forces with the talented local artist Scott Laumann who will convert the performance space into a theme matching art installation piece that will be open for the public to view the week of the concert! Join the artists for food and drinks immediately following the performance. “
