About the Artists…..

Justin Roth is a nationally touring singer/songwriter and fingerstyle acoustic guitarist who combines an artful blend of hooks laid on a bed of brilliantly inventive guitar technique, bridging contemporary and indie/alt folk. He has toured with John Gorka and opened for some of the finest singer/songwriters, including Shawn Colvin, Martin Sexton, Darrell Scott, and David Wilcox. His guitar playing has earned him shared stages with some of the greatest fingerstyle players of today, such as Tommy Emmanuel, Andy McKee, and Pat Donohue. Roth’s fan-funded fourth solo album, Now You Know, which he recorded, produced, played and sang every single note himself in his home studio, was recently voted as one of the Top 100 Folk Albums of 2011 by Roots Music Report. “Fans of Leo Kottke or Michael Hedges will find themselves right at home with [Roth’s] intricate guitar work…beautifully written lyrics.” – San Francisco Art Magazine More info at http://justinroth.com

Danielle Ate the Sandwich is the stage name of nationally-recognized independent folk musician and songwriter, Danielle Anderson. Danielle has shared the stage and collaborated with acts such as Pomplamoose, Lauren O’Connell, Leo Kottke and Mumford & Sons. Beginning her career at small shows and open mic nights in Fort Collins, Colorado, Danielle has toured nationally since 2009, playing for a loyal fan base of online followers. Her videos on youtube have gained millions of combined views and have given Danielle the opportunity to write and play music full time. Danielle Ate the Sandwich has recorded four independent albums. Her 2010 release, Two Bedroom Apartment, reached number 5 on iTunes’ top selling singer/songwriter charts. In June 2012, she released a new, full length, studio album, Like A King. Danielle currently lives in Fort Collins, CO.

Denver’s Westword describes Danielle as, “cripplingly enchanting with lyrics telling the story of a generation coming of age in an age of uncertainty.”

The Denver Post says, “Danielle Anderson is a tender singer-songwriter, a brazen humorist, a fearless young woman. Performing as Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Anderson wields a ukulele, a guitar and her own words to tell stories about people.

John Mieras is an independent singer-songwriter from Colorado. He moved to Boulder and completed a masters degree in choral music following a degree in music education. His formal training was augmented early on by picking bluegrass fiddle tunes with his beloved grandpa, Papa who always said, “I taught Johnny 3 chords and he took it from there.” John was on to writing his own songs that very day.

John was always interested in songwriting and patterned his early music after his heroes, Lennon & McCartney. His current favorite influences include new stars of alt and indie folk, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Gregory Alan Isakov, Anais Mitchell, and Storyhill.

John is most recently a finalist in the Great American Song Contest, singer-songwriter category with his song, “Yesterday (I Wish There Was a Way)”.

John finds inspiration in his family, students, songwriting friends, and the mysterious beauty of music.

Lara Ruggles lived an isolated adolescence in rural Arizona. Loneliness, unrequited love, and the influence of imposing landscapes were central inspirations behind her first songs. Lara’s music is intensely soulful and unafraid to acknowledge the dark places within the range of the human emotional experience. She engages with her audiences in an unabashedly genuine way, telling raw stories and allowing her own vulnerability to be a point of connection and empowerment. In 2011 Lara released her debut EP, Out of an Eggshell and in 2012 she was a finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest. Lara is currently recording her debut full-length album in partnership with grammy-winning producer/engineers Steve Vidaic and Mike Yach, to be released on Immersive Records early next year.

The Colorado Music Buzz said, “An incredible lyricist and expressive singer with both power and beauty, Lara Ruggles as composer is fearless, taking some of her songs into a mostly unexplored, even modern classical, landscape. Lara’s an accomplished Pianist, Guitar player, and Folk Artist to be reckoned with – by cracking open her debut Out of an Eggshell. With broad natural talent, her songs flow melodically and emotionally, captivating the listener into the aura of her passionate sphere with her voice…lush and evocative.”

The Tucson Weekly said, “It was recently announced that Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair Tour, which rounded up some of the biggest female musicians of the day a decade ago, is being revived in 2010. While she’s not yet big enough to warrant an invitation, Colorado singer-songwriter Lara Ruggles would fit the bill well. Her slightly ethereal songs, backed by her piano- and guitar-playing, fit nicely into the template forged by McLachlan (and Tori Amos, Jewel and the young Joni Mitchell)—and she sings the hell out of them.”
