In addition to our Executive Director’s favorable State-of-the-Station address, members attending KRFC’s 2011 Annual Meeting met and affirmed four new directors to sit on our board beginning January 2012.
Allow us to introduce you to the new volunteers working at the board level to create great radio that is local, non-commercial, and volunteer powered.
Kate Hawthorne has spent her career in and around the noble profession of journalism. A resident of Fort Collins since 2001, she is currently employed as staff writer at the North Forty News in beautiful downtown LaPorte. She spent the last six years with the Northern Colorado Business Report, the final two and a half as editor. Kate has volunteered with the station off and on since it went on the air, writing for Rabbit Hole Radio in the early days, and answering phones. She hopes to bring her in-depth knowledge of the local business community and communications skills to the KRFC board. Kate is married to Bill Jeracki, partner in Orthotic Prosthetic Solutions Inc. in Fort Collins.
Liz started her professional career as singer in her hometown of New Orleans at the age of 17 and soon after started writing and recording original music. Liz moved to Fort Collins in December of 1987 and found an enthusiastic audience in the region. Liz has released three CDs of her original music and is included on several other artists’ CDs as a guest performer. Over the course of her career, Liz has toured extensively in the US and has been the opening act for many of her musical heroes. Liz lived in Nashville for two years and immersed herself in the songwriting scene while there. She returned to Fort Collins in 2008 and is semi-retired from touring. Liz’s love of live musical performances led her to create Mudhead Music, which serves as a record label, booking agency and promotes concerts and events in Colorado, including all events for Grant Farm in 2010. In 2011, Liz was on the staff of Bohemian Nights at New West Fest focusing on Artist Relations and Hospitality. Liz is in the process of recording her 4th CD and has plans for a 2012 release. She loves to write, record, and perform and will continue to do so until she is no longer physically able.
