Donate your used vehicle to KRFC!

Support KRFC by donating your unwanted car or truck. You can get rid of your vehicle, receive a tax deduction and help support your favorite community radio station. How does the program work?

You may complete the online donation form or call the donation line to donate your vehicle. When the information is complete, it is forwarded to the towing company. They will call you directly to schedule the pick up. At the time of the pick up, the driver will give you a receipt for taking the vehicle. We ask that you give the driver the keys and your appropriately signed title.

What types of vehicles can I donate?

Just about any type of vehicle. You can donate cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, motorcycles and other types of recreational vehicles.

As a donor, what do I need before I can donate?

Three things are needed. (1) A clear title, which means a title with your name listed in the owner’s section, without an assignment or transfer to another person. All liens must be released prior to donating the vehicle. (2) Your car keys. (3) When you call or fill out our online form, please have the title and current mileage in hand.

Do I have to pay for the towing?

Nope, there is no charge to you for the towing.

How long will I have to wait before my vehicle is picked up?

Typically, your vehicle will be picked up in 2-4 business days. The towing company will contact you in advance to schedule the pick up.

Do I really get a tax write-off and how much would it be?

Your deduction will be equal to the gross selling price of the donated vehicle except for in the case of a vehicle selling for under $500. For such cases the deduction may be up to but not to exceed $500. An envelope will be mailed to you within 30 days of the sale of your vehicle with all the required IRS information and forms. You may also choose to take a deduction under $500 without written acknowledgment.

What do you do with the vehicles?

The vehicles are taken to an auction and sold to the highest bidder or sent to a recycler.

Where do the proceeds go?

100% of the net proceeds are distributed to Non-profits; the majority going to KRFC.

How do I determine the value of my vehicle?

You are not required to place a value on your donation. Your acknowledgment letter will determine the value and deductible amount of your donation when you claim over $500.
